You should try to hold it between your fingers and see who can raise a louder rackus.. you or the cicada.. tee-hee-hee..
haha! told her the same thing, divemuster. as a kid, i love to gently hold them, my body wld vibrate when they make that sound. i really like the green ones, but this one is an excellent specimen.
It's creey, the biggest insect I've seen is a huge cockroach I found in my shower, it was about half that size. The picture makes it look like a movie prop!
I had to get the restaurant owner to pull me a chair to get to the cicada when it landed on the lighting panel.....standing on the chair in full view of diners isn't exactly an ideal photographer's choice of location but I've never seen a cicada before!!! That's after my reporter hogged the bug & I only got one shot (this one) while it was on the ground....
